KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Grandview police are looking for a man who ran from a crash and carjacked a woman's vehicle Saturday near U.S. 71 and Truman Drive.
Witnesses told 41 Action News they saw a car roll over and a man run from the highway. When he crossed the street, witnesses said, he tried to take a woman's car as she used the ATM.
"We were just really shocked," said Roger, who asked 41 Action News to only use his first name. "We didn't know what to think."
Roger and his coworker were on their way to make a delivery when they saw the suspect force himself into the woman's car. They both began recording video on their phones, as the suspect drove the victim's car and crashed it into a white pickup truck.
"The guy in the pickup truck pulled out a gun and told (the suspect) to get out," Roger said.
Roger's video shows the victim jumping out of her car as good Samaritans attempted to get the suspect out of the victim's car.
The suspect escaped in the victim's car before police could arrive.
"It just reminded me of Grand Theft Auto," Roger said. "I hope he gets caught because he is clearly putting other people's lives at danger."
