KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A man charged with the shooting death of a man in Holden, Missouri, allegedly threatened to shoot five children.

The threat came just after Jason Michael Jones, 39, of Kansas City, Kansas, barged into a house and pointed a rifle at a man and the five children in the living room, according to a court document.

Jones yelled for his ex-girlfriend and a man, Robert Horton.

Horton and the woman came out of the bedroom and Jones allegedly shot Horton multiple times with a rifle.

Jones is the father of one of the woman's children, and the two were in a previous relationship, according to a court document.

A Missouri Highway Patrol Trooper spotted Jones in a black Pontiac G6 and arrested him a short time later.

Detectives found 18 rounds of .223-caliber bullets were fired by Jones.

Jones is a convicted felon with two convictions on drug charges, according to the court document.

Prosecutors will request Jones be held in the Johnson County, Missouri, without bond.
