JASPER COUNTY, Mo. — A Blue Springs man was killed in a two-vehicle crash near Sarcoxie, Missouri, on Friday afternoon.
Caleb D. Brainard, 25, of Blue Springs was traveling eastbound on Interstate 44 about one mile east of Sarcoxie when his 2016 Mercedes Sprinter 3500 rear-ended a semi tractor-trailer that was stopped in traffic due to heavy congestion.
Brainard was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the semi, Jorge Lay, 52 of Miami, Florida, was not injured.
