KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A barrage of gunfire Sunday night led to a standoff between police and people in a south Kansas City, Missouri, house.
It ended just before midnight.
A KCPD spokesman said officers were called to a house at 8:45 p.m. at 114th and Herrick Ave.
A caller told police dispatchers they were concerned about one or more people inside the house who had guns.
When officers arrived, they heard gunfire and took cover.
The officers did not know if the shots were directed at them, according to Sgt. Jake Becchina, a spokesman for the police department.
A tactical team went to the house as negotiators gathered at a command post a few blocks away at Ingels Elementary.
Shortly before 10 p.m. several people came out of the house and were detained by police. Police allowed those people to return to the home just before 5 a.m.
Becchina said police got permission from the property owner to enter the home just before midnight. No one else was in the home and police ended their standoff.
Police have not said if they arrested one or more shooters. Investigators didn't know late Sunday if one or more people were responsible for the gunfire.
No injuries were reported.
According to police records, officers responded to the same home on Saturday, Sept. 14 for a shooting.
A woman told investigators she was standing in front of the house, heard gunshots and a bullet hit her in the buttocks.
Police said her injury was not life-threatening and they did not have any information about the suspected shooter.
