BELTON, Mo. — Belton police found the body of 26-year-old Jessica Parsons, who hadn’t been seen since Sunday.

Parsons was last heard from over text around 5:15 p.m. on June 17.

Parsons's body was found Wednesday afternoon under a train car at Smoky Hill Railway. The Belton Police Department is processing the scene and awaits a report from the medical examiner's office.

Belton police brought out a search and rescue team and combed the pond at Memorial Park.

Parsons’s parents said she goes to the park all the time, but she's never gone off the grid like this before.

Police said on Sunday an Uber picked Parsons up at her house around 12:45 p.m., took her to a Walmart, and then dropped her off near 3rd & Main in Belton around 1:30 p.m.

She texted her parents, saying she was going to Memorial Park to read.

Surveillance video from downtown shows Parsons walking east toward the park. Police said that corroborates the text she sent her dad.

Her parents said all contact stopped that afternoon around 6 p.m.

Her cell phone pings detected activity until 10 p.m. near the Raymore Walmart she visited earlier in the day. Her phone has either died or someone turned it off.

Anyone with any information is encouraged to contact the Belton Police Department or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
