KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Big 12 GameDay fan experience that was set to take place on Grand Boulevard outside of the Sprint Center and at Barney Allis Plaza has been canceled.
The decision came after the Big 12 announced fans would not be allowed at the remainder of tournament games and pep rallies were canceled because of fears COVID-19 could spread in the crowds.
The fan experience was supposed to feature games, photo opportunities, food and giveaways in a street fair-style setup.
Those who traveled to Kansas City to watch the tournament were already upset by the last-minute decision to end fan participation.
Confirmation of the cancellation came from officials Thursday morning.
