Body found along Missouri River

Fire officials discovered a body just before 4 p.m. on the riverbank of the Missouri River at 50 Market Street in Kansas City, Kansas on Saturday.

Police say it is the body of a white male and he was found with stab wounds. The victim had a makeshift home behind the UG water pollution control plant nearby.

Kansas City, Kansas police are investigating the death as a homicide.

The victim has been identified as Shannon R. Porter, 41, of KCK. Officials say Porter died from a possible stab wound.

The incident remains under investigation by the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department’s Major Case Unit who is encouraging anyone with information to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477).
