KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Boru Ramen Bar in Waldo has closed its doors for good.

Owners Andy Lock and Domhnall Molloy along with culinary director Po Wang made the announcement Tuesday in a Facebook post, citing the “current economic environment” as the reason for the closure.

“This is a tough but very real decision to make for the overall health and vitality of our restaurants as a whole,” the post said.

Lock and Molloy also run Summit Grill and South of Summit Taqueria and Tequila in the Waldo neighborhood. Last week, all three restaurants closed after an asymptomatic employee at Boru Ramen tested positive for COVID-19.

Boru Ramen opened three years ago with a menu that focused on ramen dishes with Japanese, Chinese and Korean influences, according to its Facebook page.

Several other restaurants in the Kansas City area also have decided not to reopen after shutting their doors due to the pandemic.
