KANSAS CITY, Mo. — North Kansas City, Missouri-based Cerner confirmed Wednesday it laid off some of its workforce.

A spokesperson for the health care equipment company said it laid off 100 employees, 50 of whom are located in the Kansas City area.

In a statement, the spokesperson said those impacted employees will be eligible for some of the 5,000 positions Cerner expects to onboard in 2020.

“Cerner continues to identify organizational efficiencies as we implement our new operating model. Part of that strategy includes a realignment of resources focused on key growth areas across the company,” the statement said.
