KANSAS CITY, Mo. — It was the catch made by a Kansas City Chiefs fan that had almost everyone talking Sunday right after Chiefs all-star Patrick Mahomes scored the first touchdown of the postseason.

"I was just at the right place at the right time is kind of how I look at it," John White, who caught the game ball, said Monday.

White was sitting with his friends in the upper deck of Arrowhead Stadium during Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns.

"And it was like, slow motion, as long as that ball stayed in the air," White said.

With a drink in one hand, White caught the pigskin with the other.

"What I didn't realize was the impact it was going to have on everybody around me," White said. "There was so many other people that just came up and fans that were kids and just wanted to be a part of it."

His own family was watching from home before White called them.

"At first I thought it was a joke," Andrea White, John's wife, said. "I was like, 'Are you serious? Are you you're kidding me?' and the kids were freaking out, going crazy."

It's a big deal for his sons, 10-year-old Brayden and 8-year-old Troy, who play on a youth football league.

Besides wishing Mahomes a speedy recovery, they have another special message for their quarterback.

"Thank you because my daddy didn't even have to move for the ball," Brayden said. "It just hit him right in the chest. It was almost like it was perfect."

White said he doesn't plan to sell the ball, as it's priceless to him and his family. He plans to put it in a case and said an autograph from Mahomes would be nice.

"It's just one of those moments you get to experience it," White said. "I didn't expect to take a football. I didn't expect a souvenir. But if there's anything I could have hoped for – a throw from Patrick Mahomes to the upper deck of all places, who knew – just a dream come true."
