MIAMI — As Chiefs Kingdom counts down the days until Super Bowl Sunday, fans from across the country, including Kansas City, are making their way to South Florida.
Mary Jo Imes is a Chiefs fan who lives in South Florida. Before this week, she had never seen so many Chiefs fans walking up and down Lincoln Road in South Beach.
“Absolutely not,” she said.
Chris Shaw agreed. The life-long Chiefs fan grew up in Kansas City and recently moved to Orlando. He spent the day in South Beach Thursday at the Super Bowl experience.
"Whole lot of Chiefs fans walking around different parts of Miami. Everyone is saying, ‘Go Chiefs,’” Shaw said. “I would say it’s Kansas City south right now.”
Julie Sordelet currently lives in Indiana but grew up cheering for the Chiefs because of her dad. She told 41 Action News she immediately booked her flight to South Florida after the team won the AFC Championship.
It’s Sordelet’s first time in Miami.
“My husband insisted that I come down,” she said laughing. “When I’ve been walking around, a lot of people that I don’t think aren’t necessarily Chiefs fans are pulling for the Chiefs and have been very encouraging to us.”
