KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Chiefs player who covered adoption fees for more than 100 dogs at KC Pet Project presented a check to the nonprofit this weekend.

Defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi also received a tour of the new facility on Saturday. He said he always has been a dog lover and seeing the empty beds was amazing.

"Being here, I feel like I'm kind of indebted to help out the city any way I can,” Nnadi said. “Whether it's here or back home, I just want to do my part."

TV host Rachael Ray heard about Nnadi’s generosity and offered to provide one-year’s worth of her Nutrish dog food to the families who adopted a sponsored pet.

Nnadi had also been holding a season-long campaign, sponsoring the adoption of one dog after every Chiefs win.

The Derrick Nnadi Foundation has helped fund the partnership.
