OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — "Officer" Oliver Davis is doing great things for the community.
Despite the cold temperatures, 8-year-old Oliver had a crowd of people gathered outside his Overland Park home Friday morning eagerly awaiting doughnuts and lemonade.
He may he young, but Oliver has several years of serving others under his belt.
He started his doughnut and lemonade stand in 2017 to show his appreciation for police officers. Money he raises goes toward tribute stones for fallen heroes.
“They risked their lives for us and our community," Oliver said. "Their memories have to live on.”
Oliver's mother, Brandi Davis, said his passion for police officers continues to grow every year.
"We have been to all the stations, we have helped out as much as we can with any of the fundraisers, we go bring them up cookies all the time, and we go tour the stations," Davis said. "I think to have such a positive recognition is amazing."
Officers from departments across the Kansas City metro showed up Friday to visit with their young friend and donate to the cause.
"We love him so much. He does a lot for the law enforcement community," Leawood Police Officer Emily Craighead said.
Oliver visits retirement homes every week. A bus full of his friends from Morningside Place stopped by his stand Friday morning, too.
Oliver already has his future career picked out. It’s not hard to guess what he wants to be.
“They make people smile, they help people, and they do good things for people,” Oliver said.
