KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- With Halloween over, many retailers are fast forwarding to the Christmas shopping season.
The National Retail Federation expects holiday retail sales in November and December will increase between 4.3 and 4.8 percent over 2017 with consumers spending more than $1,000 a person.
The Christmas creep is coming into Kansas City. The Crown Center shops are starting to put out holiday decorations. On Thursday, employees were wrapping up garland with lights.
"I have to admit that I actually bought like eight presents so maybe not," Kansas City resident Suzanne Pierce said when asked if it feels like the Holiday season is here too soon.
"I like to finish up Halloween before I go on to the next thing," Crown Center visitor Coltin Bass said.
"It's definitely too soon. Thanksgiving is way before so I'm trying to focus on that first," said Country Club Plaza visitor Kylie Stafford.
"Yeah, we just got rid of Halloween and there's already Christmas decorations before Halloween even came around," said Kacie Powell.
The Christmas spirit is taking over a neighborhood in Kansas City, Kansas too.
"Everyone wants to be able to turn on their lights for Thanksgiving," said Ron Holm, president CEO of Lights of Christmas.
Holm added right now is his busiest time of year. His customers aren't interested in waiting to be in the holiday mood.
"We start earlier every year it seems like," said Holm.
