The future of Kemper Arena is once again up for discussion as Kansas City Council members are expected to give an update Wednesday afternoon where plans stand.
Back in August, Foutch Brothers submitted a proposal on how it plans to repurpose Kemper Arena.
The Kansas City Star reports that two brothers from Wichita are also jumping in on the action. A spokesperson for Rodney and Brandon Steven told The Star that they want to turn the arena into a venue for concerts, junior hockey teams and other indoor sporting events.
Meanwhile, the Foutch Brothers are looking to transform the arena into a regional sports complex that targets families and children.
The city has a selection committee for the project. Next month the committee will hear presentations on the two proposals.
Councilman Scott Taylor, who heads the planning, zoning & economic development committee, said they plan to hear those presentations behind closed doors.
The planning, zoning & economic development committee meets Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.
