KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Clay County probationary deputy sheriff has been fired following a sexual assault investigation.

The Clay County Sheriff’s office tweeted Wednesday afternoon the fired employee had previously been on administrative leave during an investigation first announced on April 28.

In April, an inmate at the Clay County jail made a complaint against the deputy.

Despite Wednesday’s announcement, the sheriff’s office said the investigation remains on-going.
