KANSAS CITY, Mo. — In the 6th District in Kansas City, Mo. on Saturday, it’s all about getting rid of those items like old documents and bulky items for the 6th District Clean-Up.
Starting at 8 a.m., people in the area can bring items like old furniture, electronics, leaves and brush tires with or without rims and documents you need shredded.
Electronics will have an additional fee:
- $5 for CRT monitors
- $10 for items containing Freon
- $20 for LED/LCD/plasma TVs
- $30 for CRT TVs 26 inches or less
- $50 for CRT TVs 27 inches or more, big screen/projection TVs & wood console TVs.
There are two locations for drop off: Ruskin High School and South-Broadland Presbyterian Church.
“Also, we want to prevent illegal dumping which is a big problem going on. So we want to try to eliminate that by giving people the opportunity to bring their stuff out to these clean-ups,” said Robert Woods, Program Specialist for Neighborhoods and Housing Services Department.
This event happens twice a year. When they held the event in June, they had more than 63 tons of unwanted waste brought, including a little more than 1,100 waste tires.
The clean up-goes until 12pm.
