KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Court documents released Tuesday in a case involving an Olathe East teacher charged with sex crimes against a student revealed the nature of the relationship.

Justin Adrian, 33, faces charges in Johnson County, Kansas of sexual relations with a student.

Adrian was a social studies teacher at Olathe East High School and a councilman in Shawnee, Kansas.

According to court documents, Adrian and the student met on online-dating service Grindr on Sept. 6. The pair quickly recognized one was a student and the other was a teacher at the school but continued discussions on the app and on Snapchat.

Some of the messages were sexual in nature.

On September 7, Adrian met the student in his classroom at the school where he engaged in a sexual act with the student.

The district was notified of the incident by the student’s parents.

When questioned by school administrators, Adrian admitted to the contact and was relieved of his position.
