BLUE SUMMIT, Mo. — On Friday morning, the Inter City Fire Protection District responded to a house fire near 18th and Tilden in Blue Summit.
Fire officials believe it started in an abandoned home. The fire spread quickly, causing a nearby occupied home to catch fire.
The state fire marshal is on the way to investigate the cause of the fire.
Inter City Fire Chief Jeffrey Jewell believes it may have been arson.
There were no reported injuries to the homeowners or the firefighters. The homeowners’ five pets died in the fire.
