KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Crews battled a fire at a vacant building off Blue Ridge Boulevard in Grandview early Monday morning.
Firefighters were called to the old Rock City building at 519 Blue Ridge just before 5 a.m.
Fire crews on the scene told 41 Action News utilities to the building, which was used to house building supplies, had been shut off.
Crews also said they had some trouble getting water to the area of the fire because one of the hydrants on Blue Ridge was not working.
There are several abandoned buildings in that area, fire officials said, and there have been issues with trespassing before.
41 Action News crews said trains on the nearby railroad tracks appeared to be running as scheduled despite the fire.
