UPDATE, Dec. 10 | Roads near the gas line break were still closed Friday morning.
Spire crews were able to clamp the line and reduce pressure to minimize the leak. A permanent repair will be made Friday.
Gas was not shut off to customers.
ORIGINAL STORY, Dec. 9 | A construction worker damaged a main gas line in midtown Kansas City, Missouri, causing a gas leak.
A spokesperson for Spire Missouri, a natural gas utility, said one of the workers on existing road construction damaged a 20-inch steel line, and now crews are working to reduce pressure and repair the damage.
The leak is located near 31st Steet and Wyandotte Street, according to KSHB 41 News photographer Jonathan Goede.
No injuries have been reported.
