INDIANAPOLIS — A psychiatric examination has been requested for the semi-truck driver accused of killing three people and injuring seven in July in Indianapolis.
The motion for the examination to determine if he is competent to stand trial was filed Friday in the case against Bruce Pollard, 57, of Sturgeon, Missouri, according to court documents.
Pollard, who was driving a semi for North Kansas City-based Weston Transportation, was charged after his alleged reckless driving led to the deaths of Alanna Norman Koons, 29, and her twin 18-month-old daughters, Ruby and June Koons on Interstate 465.
He was recently ordered to stop driving commercial vehicles and is considered an "imminent hazard" by the U.S. Department of Transportation.

A final pre-trial conference is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 26.
