KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Cinema buffs in Kansas City have one less movie theater to catch a show at after the Cinemark Palace at the Plaza closed for good Sunday.
"When I heard about the movie theater (closing), I said wow," said John Mosley, who made catching a movie at the theater a Monday tradition.
The theater's closing will help make room for Nordstrom, which is moving from Oak Park Mall to the west end of the Country Club Plaza with a scheduled opening in 2021.
It's a sign of progress for the Plaza, but that didn't make it less of a bummer for moviegoers.
"It's more like a release time," Mosley said. "I can relax and I am calm."
The final screening at the theater will be a showing of "Avengers: End Game."
"I feel like we need places like this, because, one, we aren't made of money and it's really cheap," Jeana Hazletta said. "It's just a great place to hang out and bond."
