7:06 p.m. Update | Police said the victim, who was identified as 75-year-old Norman E. Olson of Kansas City, Missouri, was speeding north on Ward Parkway when the crash occurred.
The green Jaguar went off the left side of the street and into a large tree.
The driver died at the scene.
EARLIER | Kansas City, Missouri, police said one person died Tuesday in a crash at West 51st Street and Ward Parkway.
KCPD said that around 1:50 p.m., the person’s car left the road and hit a tree.
The driver was not wearing a seat belt, police said.
KCPD said the driver’s death is the 15th traffic fatality in 2020, compared to eight at this time last year.
