KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A family is safe but displaced after a fire broke out in their Kansas City, Kansas, home early Friday morning.
The fire happened in the 1500 block of South 40th Street shortly before 6 a.m. The family was home at the time but self-evacuated safely.
Firefighters on scene say they were worried about the structural integrity of the home, so they chose to evacuate all crews and begin an exterior attack.
It's unknown at this time where and how the fire started.
The Red Cross was assisting the family.
