UPDATE, 8:40 a.m. | The police have located the driver who allegedly hit the pedestrian and have that person in custody.
UPDATE, 6:12 a.m. | All lanes of I-70 are back open.
ORIGINAL STORY | The Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department said eastbound Interstate 70 is closed at Brooklyn Avenue due to a fatal crash.
It happened a little before 4:30 a.m. Wednesday.
KCPD told KSHB 41 News that the fatality involved an adult male pedestrian.
A vehicle struck the man and left the scene.
The man was hit several other times by other vehicles and at least one semi truck.
One witness did finally stop.
The highway will be shut down for several hours while officers investigate and collect evidence.
Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or been involved should call police.
