KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- You have a chance to hear about the progress on a new terminal at KCI straight from the project leaders.
Beginning Tuesday, the Edgemoor team will host seven open houses this month.
Organizers want to use the open houses to update the public about the project, answer questions and receive feedback. The meetings are informal -- anyone is welcome to come and go at any point during the time period.
Meghan Jansen with Edgemoor said the most frequently asked question is why hasn't construction started.
The short answer is the Federal Aviation Administrator has to approve an environmental assessment of the project before construction can begin. The FAA is expected to approve that plan in October.
"It's important to understand this is a long process. This is a very large project with a lot of pieces. We are in the very early stages of design. Even though we are going to get into some early construction work this fall, maybe with the demolition of Terminal A, the design process is going to continue into next summer. It is early, and those latest renderings are really a snapshot in time," Jansen explained.
Edgemoor is hosting a separate meeting about the environmental assessment Monday, Sept. 24 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 12200 N. Ambassador Drive, Kansas City, Missouri.
Tuesday's open house meeting runs from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Northland Cathedral, 101 NW 99th Street, Kansas City, Missouri.
