KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Edgerton, Missouri, was placed under a boil water advisory Monday morning.
The advisory impacted roughly 300 people who use the city's water, according to a city spokesperson.
The order had to be issued as public works crews fixed a leak, and it is believed that water was sucked back into the line during the fix.
The boil water advisory was rescinded shortly before 10 a.m. Tuesday morning after lab results confirmed the water was safe, a city official told KSHB 41 News.
"A boil water advisory is issued as a precautionary measure," the city of Edgerton said via Facebook.
Residents should boil all tap water for three minutes and allow it to cool before using it to drink, cook or prepare food. It also can be used to brush teeth once cooled.
Ice made with unboiled water should be discarded.
Water is safe for bathing, but be careful not to allow small children to swallow bath water.
