KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A 75-year-old Lee's Summit woman is charged with allegedly stealing more than $750 from a Lee's Summit bank.

Barbara Gooch is accused of taking $3,000 on Jan. 23 from the Bank of the West, 700 Northeast Missouri 291.

Court documents state her son called police after his mother said she was going to rob a bank.

Gooch, in a black wig, raced away from the house in a Nissan SUV.

She passed the teller a note that stated, "this is a bank robbery,'' and demanded $3,000 in $50 and $20 bills, according to documents.

Gooch allegedly told the bank teller not to press any alarms and not to put dye packs in the bag with the money.

A Lee's Summit officer quickly caught up to SUV and arrested Gooch. The money was found in the SUV.

Gooch was convicted of bank robbery in 1977 in California, according to the court documents.
