KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Retired Kansas City Police Chief Darryl Forte has applied to the be the interim Jackson County Sheriff.
Forte made the announcement on Twitter to "quell the rumors"

Mike Sharp stepped down as Jackson County Sheriff amid an investigation into a relationship he had with an employee and his use of tax dollars.
Forte retired in May 2017. He was chief of police for six years and was with the KCPD for 31 years in total.
