KANSAS CITY, Mo. — After months of frustration, neighbors in Union Hill no longer have to see or walk around an exposed cable strung through the front of their yards.
It's a problem Jamie Mcaninch said Spectrum has been ignoring since December.
"There wasn't a note on the door, there was no sort of communication at any point for this," she told 41 Action News.
Her biggest concern has been safety. The loose line was above ground, snaked through bushes and onto the sidewalk with nothing securing it to the ground. The line also attached to two boxes that were open instead of locked shut.
"The fact that this was on our property. If someone were to get hurt or trip or something... then who was going to be blamed for any kind of damage or injury?" she said.
41 Action News contacted Spectrum about the exposed cable and open boxes.
Within an hour, a lineman was in the neighborhood fixing the issue.
The company also sent the following statement:
"The line in question was always intended to be temporary and our teams have since removed the line. There are always a number of safety and regulatory protocols that must be followed before digging to place lines underground – and I can assure you the process was in motion to take care of this before you reached out.
We are sorry for any inconvenience caused by this situation. If there’s a local service issue (even something like this) the best course of action is to call 1-855-75-SPECTRUM to report the matter."
