Less than a month before Christmas, a Kansas City family lost their home to a fire.
The home was near 81st and Garfield on Tuesday afternoon. One adult and four children made it safely out of the home but the family's dog died in the fire.

Barbara Henderson, the family's neighbor, says she saw children running for safety.
"The fire was just fire, blazing fire. It was just blazing," said Henderson. "I had to watch and make sure they didn't try and get away from me. I didn't want them running in there and something happening to them."
The cause of the fire is still unknown.
