Family of the 3-year-old twins who drowned in a pond on Monday are speaking out for the first time.
“It’s still one of the hardest things, I just, it’s still unbelievable,” said the great aunt of the twins Lisa Vestal.
The Platte County Sheriffs Office says they received a call from the twins father Monday morning stating the twins were missing.
By the time medics arrived, Arrabelle Wagner was pulled from the pond and CPR was preformed. Elijah Wagner was pulled a short time later and pronounced dead at the scene. Arrabelle was transported to the hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
Vestal says the twins were a ball of energy and a force to be reckoned with.
“They were like balloons that had been blown up and just let go most of the time,” says Vestal.
Investigators have ruled the deaths accidental.
Vestal also calls their deaths accidental, stating the parents worked hard to provide a good life for the twins. She says the family will remember Elijah and Arrabelle for who they were in life and not their deaths.
“If you only look at the tragedy you’re missing vivacious life. I mean you’re missing just you know the little shenanigans you know Arrabelle thinking up to do this and Elijah following her,” said Vestal.
A GoFund Me has been started to help pay for funeral costs.
