FCC says it needs more time to review Sprint, T-Mobile merger

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Federal Communications Commission said Tuesday that it needs more time to review a proposed merger between T-Mobile and Overland Park, Kansas-based Sprint.

The letter, addressed to representatives of both organizations, said the FCC has “paused” a 180-day review of the process after receiving “newly submitted” information.

The letter also cites recently submitted plans by the two companies, one as recent as Sept. 5, that require additional review.

Sprint and T-Mobile announced their merger in April.
