KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Lee's Summit Fire Department said a home in the 800 block of Northeast Bryant Drive was heavily damaged by a fire Monday night.
The people who live in the home were alerted to the fire by their smoke alarms and their doorbell.
They were able to get out safely.
When firefighters arrived, heavy smoke was coming from the attic.
The fire burned through the roof, weakening the structure.
The attic and second floor were heavily damaged, with smoke and water damage throughout the home.
The Lee's Summit Fire Department and Missouri State Fire Marshal's office are investigating the cause.
No one was hurt.
