KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A five-vehicle wreck has shut down Interstate 70 eastbound near Noland Road in Independence, Missouri.
The wreck occurred around 7 p.m. and has created a more than three-mile traffic snarl on I-70, which is backed up to the stadiums.
Independence police have shut some exits west of the incident and are diverting traffic off the interstate.
Kansas City, Missouri, police also dispatched traffic crews to the area to help handle traffic for a while before the congestion eased.
It is unclear how many people are injured, but there are believed to be some serious injuries, according to Independence police.
The road reopened around 9:30 p.m. after being closed for approximately 2 1/2 hours.
