LAWRENCE, Kan. — It’s a day that stems from a great idea – National Petal It Forward Day.
Hundreds of florists across the country give out two bouquets to total strangers, free of charge. Customers like Dixie Carr think it’s great gesture.
"It’s a great plan. It’s a great idea. I’m going to see my sister and my sister had breast cancer, so I’m going to bring her a bouquet," said Carr.
Hy-Vee in Lawrence, Kansas rose to the occasion. When all is said, the floral shop will give away nearly 500 arrangements. Florist Angie Dorsey loves this part of the job.
"I get to make people happy," said Dorsey. "I’ve never shown up with flowers at someone’s house and they’ve been like, I don’t want those."
