KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Amid complaints of high utility bills, KCP&L announced some assistance for customers on Friday.

The company said it will not disconnect residential customers through the month of September. It will also offer customers four-month payment plans to pay off their balances.

“We understand that our customers are feeling the stress of higher bills due to one of the hottest summers on record,” said Chuck Caisley, Chief Customer Officer in a release. “We are providing extra time and additional payment options to help customers manage this expense.”

KCP&L says customers wanting to utilize the payment plan option should call it's customer care center after the Labor Day holiday at 816-471-5275 or 888-471-5275.
