KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A former south Kansas City bar and grill is looking for a second life.

After years of recurring flooding problems, Brian Darby, co-owner of Coach’s Bar and Grill, finally made the decision last year to abandon the bar’s location in a strip mall off of 103rd Street between Wornall Road and State Line Road.

The final straw came last August when the strip mall saw significant flooding and forced the rescue of Darby and co-owner Chris Carle from inside the restaurant.

On Tuesday night, Darby and Carle will meet with neighbors at 7 p.m. at the Center Planning and Development Improvement District meeting to outline attempts to re-open by the end of the year in a location at 92nd and Wornall.

Darby told 41 Action News there are plenty of hurdles before re-opening the restaurant, the first of which is to get rezoning approval.

If plans move forward, Darby is hopeful of re-opening late this year or in early 2019.

The meeting will be held at the Trailside Center, 9901 Holmes, Kansas City, Missouri.
