Four injured after car runs into back of parked semi on Topping Avenue

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Four people were injured, two seriously after a car driving without its lights on crashed into the back of a parked semi at 39th & Topping Avenue overnight.

Police say about 2:20 Saturday morning, a blue Toyota Carolla was traveling north on Topping at a high rate of speed with no headlights.

The driver drove into the back of a parked semi that was legally parked on Topping Avenue.

Witnesses say the driver got out and dragged a blind male passenger in the front passenger seat to a wooded area just east of the crash site.

The driver was located behind an apartment building, and taken into custody.

The left rear female passenger was transported to an area hospital with critical injuries, the right rear male passenger was transported with serious injuries.

The blind male passenger received non life-threatening injuries.

The driver received minor injuries, and is being investigated for possible impairment.
