It's a place that gives hope to people who desperately need it - like LeAnna Berry, who's staying at Kansas City's Hope Lodge for the second time because this is her second battle with cancer.
"You're completely lost. You get told by a doctor you have cancer. You have no idea where to go," said Berry.
The Hope Lodge provides a free, clean place to stay for those who come to Kansas City to receive cancer treatment.
Berry and her husband came all the way from Higginsville, Missouri, to receive treatment at University of Kansas Hospital.
"The Hope Lodge opened their doors and it was a no brainer. It was just all set up," said Berry.
But the Hope Lodge can't offer this kind of hope without the proper funding.
In the early 2000s, Matt Anthony's brother, Chris, faced his own cancer battle. That's why together they started a special event called Shave to Save to raise money for the Hope Lodge.
A short time later, his brother died.
"He faced a tough battle," said Matt Anthony of his brother Chris. "[He] took his treatment very seriously. But took his life more seriously."
Years later, Matt Anthony was also diagnosed with cancer. It's a battle he was able to win.
He did it all while still organizing Shave to Save every year with the help of our own cancer survivor - 41 Action News Meteorologist Gary Lezak.
"Matt came to me and said, 'Gary, I would really like you to be involved as emcee of this event.' It just sounded like a perfect opportunity for me to be involved with a fundraiser," said Lezak.
At the event, a special group of people who do not have cancer raise money and shave their heads.
"They're about to get their head shaved in front of everyone. It's a fun event," said Lezak. "It's an emotional event and it's a great fundraiser."
