Girl finds new role model through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kansas City

If 11-year-old Yazmin White seems a little mature for her age, Taylor Stucky could be the reason why.

They were matched through Big Brothers Big Sisters just more than a year ago.

"Yazmin was very quiet when we first got matched. I think we both were a little bit," said Stucky. "Probably in the past few months we've really started to warm up to each other and really gotten comfortable with each other."

Along the way they've gone everywhere and done everything -- together.

"We go out to eat a lot, we go to the park, we go to the Nelson," said Stucky. "Coffee, frozen yogurt, pretty much anything that pertains to food we love to do."

But White's mom turned to Big Brothers Big Sisters for a much more serious reason.

Said Stucky, "Her mom is a single mom and she has a little brother and they were just looking for just more role models in her life."

A role model who can help guide White through those upcoming teen years.

And Stuckey plans on being there every step of the way.

"She's a wonderful big sister and I really appreciate her help," said White.
