KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Kansas City, Missouri, woman whose van was destroyed after being caught in the crossfire of a Thanksgiving shooting will soon have a new vehicle.

The Jackson County's Prosecutor's Office started a GoFundMe campaign on Wednesday to replace Danielle Benson's minivan, and it exceeded the $10,000 goal by Sunday night.

More than 150 people donated to the campaign.

Benson was at Troost Market waiting for her brother and son to return to the vehicle as gunfire from what would become a fatal shooting began. She was not injured in the shooting.

Kansas City, Missouri, police had identified a person of interest in the case last week.
