KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Missouri State Highway Patrol on Friday identified the man who shot and critically wounded a Kansas City, Missouri, police officer in the second shooting Thursday involving an officer.
The suspect, who was shot and killed in the incident, was identified as 31-year-old Ky Johnson of Grandview.

The officer, who has not been identified, was shot while responding to a disturbance around 4:40 p.m. in a McDonald’s parking lot.
Witnesses described the man who shot the officer as erratic and said he was waving a weapon and yelling in the parking lot before police arrived.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the suspect opened fire and shot the KCPD officer in the head. The injured officer’s partner returned fire, shooting and killing the suspect.
The injured officer, who has served two-and-a-half years on the department, was rushed to emergency surgery. On Friday morning, a police spokeswoman said the officer has been reacting to stimulus and is moving his arms and legs. His injuries, however, remain critical.
The highway patrol is handling the shooting investigation.
It was the second shootout involving KCPD officers on Thursday. Earlier in the day, a robbery suspect shot an officer and a bus driver in the Historic Northeast District.
The officer in that shooting was treated and released from the hospital later Thursday.
