Just hours before they were set to be sworn in, Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens has pulled the names of two people he had appointed for the Kansas City, Missouri Police Board of Commissioners.
Sources told 41 Action News that Nathan Garrett and Bishop Mark Tolbert will not be sworn in at Tuesday’s commissioners meeting, as previously announced.
Parker Briden, the spokesman for the governor's office, said the two were withdrawn until after the special session to make sure there is enough time for Senate confirmation.
Garrett, a local attorney, told 41 Action News in an e-mail last Friday that he had looked forward to serve and wanted to “contribute to sound decisions on the undoubtedly long list of important matters before the board.”
41 Action News will update this story as more information becomes available.
