LENEXA, Kan. --  An aid group based in Lenexa will pack up and head to southeastern Texas to help with the preparation and relief of Hurricane Harvey as it makes landfall Friday evening.

As of Friday morning, wind speeds topped 110 miles per hour as the edge of the storm circled 150 miles off the coast from Corpus Christi.

The storm was rated a Category 2 as it approached land, but some forecasters predict it could reach a Category 3 intensity before it hits the coast of Texas. Some areas could receive up to 35 inches of rain as Harvey passes over, NBC News reported Friday.

Heart to Heart International will head into the eye of the storm. It put together an emergency response team of volunteers to help out residents of the gulf coast. They're bringing necessities like food, water, blankets, clothing and bathroom essentials.

Since 1992, Heart to Heart International has been serving the most devastated areas. Many predictions show the area hasn't been hit this hard since Hurricane Ike in 2008.

The governor of Texas called a state of emergency for 30 counties as the storm approached.

Heart to Heart will also bring a medical response team for anyone who needs to be treated for basic injuries.
