KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- You can help low-income families in Kansas City put food on the table this Thanksgiving. Della Lamb needs 2,000 turkeys to give away for Operation Thanksgiving.
Friday, volunteers will be at three Sun Fresh Markets in the area. Those include:
- 2803 S. 47th St. in Kansas City, Kan.
- 4357 NE Chouteau in Kansas City, Mo.
- 18001 E. 24 Hwy. in Independence, Mo.
You can purchase a 10-pound frozen turkey at those locations and donate it to Della Lamb.
They are also accepting donations of boxed stuffing mix, cans of corn or green beans, gravy mix, apple pie filling, pie crust, cranberry sauce, chocolate cake and frosting mix, margarine and eggs. These donations will be accepted at Della Lamb Community Services until November 20. You can drop the items off at 500 Woodland Avenue in Kansas City, Mo.
Operation Thanksgiving will distribute those ingredients on November 21. It’s one of the largest Thanksgiving food distribution events in the area.
The 2017 holiday marks the program’s 25th anniversary.
