KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A home is destroyed after an early-morning fire in downtown Parkville, Missouri.

Fire officials told 41 Action News the house was fully engulfed in flames when crews arrived on the scene, and it quickly collapsed.

No one was living in the home, but it was being renovated.

Southern Platte Fire District chief Rich Carrizzo tweeted that 9 Hwy from 5th Street all the way to East 9 Hwy was closed due to the fire.

Main Street remained open as an alternate route, but the closure still affected some students whose bus normally takes that route. The fire chief said some students would be delayed or possibly late to school.

No firefighters were injured.

KCFD assisted Southern Platte to put out the fire.
