KC Scout employees monitoring thousands of miles

Posted
and last updated

KC Scout is looking over thousands of roads in the metro area - in fact, a little more than 5,000 miles to be precise.

It's a coordinated effort with KDOT, MoDOT and KC Scout to get roads cleared, accidents cleaned up and help on the way when needed.

Melissa Black is a communications director for MoDOT. She said, "We have people here in the building because we have to have someone answering all the phones, we have to have someone updating the map so when people check that online map and the map on their phone, they get the latest road conditions."

Check out the map here.

More than 400 employees are at work, 200 snow plows are in operation and 13 emergency response vehicles are on the roads helping with about 100 incidents per day.
