KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Just think of it: A soft tropical breeze… quiet music in the background… surrounded by bamboo… and of course, exotic cocktails.

How about all that -- but in the middle of land-locked Kansas City, Missouri? Yes, such a paradise exists, and has for about the last six months.

It's called TikiCat, and you don’t need to book a flight. Head to the lower level of HopCat on the corner of Westport Road and Broadway to find a tiki bar recently named the best in the world by well-known tiki enthusiast website Critiki.

Walk down the bar's back stairs and hope the green light for “walk-ins” is on. Though, they do take (and recommend) reservations.

According to Marc Modrow, of TikiCat, this place is the real deal. It was designed by Bamboo Ben. Ben and his family have been designing the best tiki bars on the planet for decades.

There are original murals on the walls, plants dot the floor and hand-designed glasses hold hand-designed drinks.

Only about 40 people can fit in this space at any given time, and, you should know, people come from around the world to be here.

So, trim up your grass skirt and find your best Hawaiian shirt.

Kansas City, the home of BBQ and Jazz, is now the home of some of the best Tiki in the world!
